Haymarket’s Commitment

At Haymarket, we stand firm to uphold our mission of supporting grassroots groups across New England by providing much needed resources. For thirty-five years, we’ve been providing money to almost every major social justice movement in New England. We are moving forward with a commitment to anti-racist organizing and with the deepest respect for the efforts and accomplishments of the groups we fund.

Unlike many other foundations, Haymarket did not cut the level of funding to grantees in our past grant cycle. That is because we know that the way through an economic downturn is to follow the leadership and vision of those who do hands-on organizing in their communities and do crucial anti-racist work among the people hit the hardest by tough times. Our most recent grantmaking process, completed in June 2009, provides funding to both established community organizing efforts and first time applicants.
